School as Living Space
Analysis, creation and improvement of the “school life surroundings” and the resulting extension of individual perceptions and communication abilities
Aims
- active analysis of the classroom itself
- identification with “school”
- awareness raising for the mental states of the classmates
- strengthening of the self-confidence
- reduction of aggressive behavior
- respectful cooperation by respectful handling of the room
- use of all senses
- creation of questionnaires
- gathering and analysis of facts
- implementation of the analysis into reality
Methodology/Contents
- sensitization for the impact of a room by the means of speeches and workshops
- learning about the effects of music, color, odors, and the like by experimental series
- using simulation glasses in order to sense the room in a different way
- learning which materials are felt as pleasing by using different materials
- gaining insight into working life by the fabrication of natural colors
- gaining an environmentally aware attitude by the exposure to natural materials
Milestones
- sensitization of individual perceptions by experimental series
- conjoint design of the classroom
- conjoint compilation of the project documentation
- presentation of the results to other involved classes
- allocation of the project documentation to interested classes
